Bernard Jeffries

Bernard Lynn Jeffries, Sr., age 92, of 201 Portland Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the Alleghany Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clifton Forge.
Bernard was born on August 26, 1931 in Clifton Forge to the late Edgar Emmett and Alice Patterson Jeffries. He was a 1949 graduate of Clifton Forge High School and served in the United State Army during the Korean War. He was an electrician for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, and later an entrepreneur in the insurance business. He was a member of the Quarterback Club and the Babe Ruth League.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys DeVenny Jeffries; a son, Bernard “Lynn” Jeffries, Jr.; a grandson, Isaac D. Jeffries; four brothers, Jerry Allen Jeffries, Edgar E. Jeffries, Glenn Jeffries, and Ronald Jeffries; and a sister, Doris Stinespring.
He is survived by a daughter, Ellen J. Kormann and husband Joseph of Roanoke; a son, David A. Jeffries and wife Deborah of Clifton Forge; four grandchildren, Matthew Hancock, Stephen Hancock, Mallory Dudley and husband Oler, and Dylan Jeffries; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff members, Amanda and Tammy, of ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice, and Bernard’s caregivers, Carol Anne Angle, Pat Conner, Linda Ball, and Susan Wilhelm, for their excellent care.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, Clifton Forge with Reverend Bill Gilliland officiating.
