Bernice Eames Wells
Bernice Goldie Eames Wells, 84, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022, at her residence. She was born December 2, 1937 in Snow Creek, Virginia, to the late Richard Buren Eames and Vergie Eames Eames. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Coleman Wells, Jr.; sister, Cleo Rigney; and brothers, Billy, J. D., and Sonny Eames. She had been employed by Pluma Knitting as a sewing operator. She was a member of Kearfott Memorial Baptist Church, and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Wells is survived by her daughters, Deborah Amos, Ellen Wingfield, Emma Hand, and Laminia Webster; sons, Sam Wells and Ernest Coleman Wells, III “Jack”; sister, Mary Jean Eames Bernard; brother, Donald Eames; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and special friend and caregiver, Tometris Martin. A very special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice. (All nurses and CNA’s who cared for our mother.) Special thanks to the family and friends who became caregivers.
