In her youth, she even sang country music in a band! She was an avid writer and poet and often shared her poems when she visited area nursing homes with her Sunday school class. Bernita loved her family dearly and always wrote letters to keep in touch with her many cousins scattered across the country. She enjoyed researching family history and finding old family photographs. Bernita loved animals of all kinds, especially cats. Cats know a good soul and they were always drawn to her with her warmth and kindness. No cat ever went hungry on her watch and she saved many over the years.
