Bessie Lee Estep Dent

BESSIE LEE ESTEP DENT, 91, of Bastian, VA, gained her Heavenly wings on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, but most importantly, “Mamaw.”  She was born in Coeburn, VA, to the late Ewell Berry & Della Mae Sanders Estep.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Ray Alfred Dent, her three sisters, Charlotte Meade, Rosie Hagan and Margaret Fisher, her three brothers, Cecil Estep, Roy Estep and Donald Estep, two babies waiting on her, Sheila Mae and Barry Wayne, two sons-in-law, Darrell Caudill and Dennis Freeman and one daughter-in-law, Brenda Dent.

For years, she was dedicated to her home church, the Church of God of Prophecy, in Bastian. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing with all her family. She enjoyed studying the bible and raising children, whether hers or someone else’s. She will be known by her family as a faithful prayer warrior and doll collector.

She is survived by her children, Danny Ray & Terry Dent, Bastian, VA, Cammy & James Bowles, Bastian, VA, Sherry Caudill, Ocala, FL, Karen Freeman, Fries, VA, Tony Dent of the home and Randy & Christa Dent, Rural Retreat, VA; and her 13 Grandchildren, 36 Great-Grandchildren and 10 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of God of Prophecy in Bastian, VA, with Pastor Dannis McLemore. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until service time, 1:00 P.M.
