Betty Ann Riffe
Betty Ann Riffe, 85, of Bassett, Virginia, entered her eternal rest at home on Saturday, September 27, 2025. She was born on February 26, 1940, in McDowell County, West Virginia, to the late Walter and Thelma Blankenship. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Timothy “Tim” Riffe; her husband, Lowell Riffe; her brother, John “Don” Blankenship; and her sister, Delores Cline.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She spent much of her early career in administrative roles, dedicating many years of service to Sandhills Community College. A faithful member of Bible Baptist Church, Betty enjoyed sewing, baking, knitting, gardening, cooking, and caring for her home and family. She will be remembered for her bright spirit and generous heart, always extending warmth and kindness to those around her and making everyone feel valued and loved.
Those left to treasure her memory include her loving husband, Junior Light of Bassett, VA; her granddaughter, Jordan Riffe, and great-granddaughter, Reya Riffe, both of Jackson Springs, NC. She is also survived by her sister, Garnet Hagy; her brother, Franklin “Doug” Blankenship; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Raymond Moorefield, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluefield, West Virginia.
Betty’s legacy of love, compassion, and joy will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
