Betty Austin Martin

Mrs. Betty Austin Martin, age 92 formerly of Bassett, VA passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Sweetbriar Assisted Living, Dunbar, W. VA where she had been a resident for the past two years.

Betty was born on May 29, 1932 in Fieldale, VA to Claude C. Austin and Grace Belton Austin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Levi Martin, a grandson, Jami Martin, two brothers, Claude C. Austin, Jr. and Jim Austin. She was employed by Blue Ridge Hardware for over 27 years. She was a member of Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her son, James Rudolph ”Rudy” Martin (Wanda) of Charleston, W.VA., 3 grandchildren, Josh Martin (Kendra) of Riner, VA., Alex Martin (Rachel) of Morgantown, W.VA., Katie Martin-Compston (Patrick) of Phenix City, AL., great grandchildren, Cheyenne Martin (Kyle), Tristan Martin, Autumn Lawson, Tate Smith, Grayson Smith and 4 great- great grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Hwy, Bassett, VA with a Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Dr. J.D. Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
