Betty Bartley
Mrs. Betty Joyce Stull Bartley, age 80, of Covington, died Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke. She was the wife of Jerry Allen Bartley who preceded her in death in 2013.
Mrs. Bartley was born January 5, 1943 in Virginia, the daughter of the late Odell G. Stull and Celia Wilson Stull. During her working career, she had been employed by the former Jane Colby Sewing Plant as well as in the circulation department of the Virginian Review. Mrs. Bartley was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was also a former member of the Women of the Moose. Joyce enjoyed camping and was an avid cat lover. Most of all, she loved her family and truly enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Bartley is survived by a daughter, Tamara B. Hill and husband, Jason of Covington; two grandchildren, Andrew Hill and wife, Kelsey and Hannah Hill; a great granddaughter, Adalyn Klaire Hill; a brother, Gene Stull and wife, Kay of Rich Patch; a brother-in-law, Bobby Bartley and wife, Leta; and a number of nieces and nephews including special nephew, Steve Taylor of Covington.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bartley was preceded in death by a son, Tim W. Bartley.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 4, 2023, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Hill, Andrew Hill, Bernie Teaford, Eric Oyler, Carl Tingler and Brandon Gann.
The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 12:30 P.M. until time of service at Loving Funeral Home and at other times at the residence, 222 Moose Park Road, Covington.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, 900 Alleghany Avenue, Covington VA 24426 or the Angels of Assisi, 415 Campbell Avenue SW Roanoke, VA 24016.
