Betty Burnette

Betty Burnette, age 85, of Danville, Virginia, passed away on June 30, 2025, at Piney Forest Health and Rehabilitation center surrounded by her loved ones.

Ms. Burnette was born on May 30, 1940, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia to the late Emma Helton Fleenor and Lee Ottis Fleenor.

Betty was a member of North Main Baptist Church. She was a league bowler, a major Atlanta Braves fan, and loved to travel. She was an admired registered nurse who had a lengthy career in the medical field, graduated with her BSBA, and finished out her career with Roman Eagle nursing home in Danville, Virginia.

Ms. Burnette is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Wann (Hobart) and Rainelle Shields (Jay); Sons, Ronnie (Shannon) and Rory Burnette; sisters, Peggy Sue Oakes and Ruby Doss; brother, James Fleenor (Bonnie); ten grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ms. Burnette will be conducted on Friday July 4, 2025, at 11:00 am at Norris Funeral Services West End Chapel with Pastor Fred Unger officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Internment will follow the service at Danville Memorial Gardens.
