Betty Johnston Blount

Betty Jo Johnston Blount, widow of Kenneth W. Blount, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Jeanne’s Elder Care. She was the daughter of the late Bryant and Almeta Clemens Johnston. In addition to her husband of 68 years and her parents, she was also preceded in death by sisters, Peggy Snellings and Barbara Williams; a granddaughter, Stephanie Kim Smith; and a nephew, Eric Snellings.

Betty was a graduate of Jefferson High School Class of 1955 and worked as a bookkeeper for many years, ending her career at Scott-Gallagher, Inc. She was a loyal member of the Roanoke Moose Lodge. She enjoyed her retirement; always in her flower beds and yard. The highlight of her life was raising her great-grandson, Vinny, like her own.

She will be missed and remembered by her son, Curtis Wayne Blount; daughters, Susan Kim Brown and Colleen Blount; great-grandsons, Vinny Moon and Stephon Moon; a special niece, Lynne Snellings Patton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025 in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Sheldon Cosma officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 12 noon.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Jeanne Duncan and her staff for the care and compassion they showed to Betty for the past year.
