Betty Lucille J. Ligon (Davidson) “Bema”May 14, 1937 – August 28, 2025Betty passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025.She was preceded in death by her parents, E. Bernard Johnson “Johnny” and Lucille Basham Johnson; her sisters, Shirley Moorefield Dean and Peggy Johnson Moore; her daughter, Kimberly Hahn; her former husbands, Robert Driskill and Rudy Davidson; and her beloved husband, Howard C. Ligon.She is survived by her son, Robert Earl Driskill Jr., and his daughters, Kamryne Driskill and KaLynne Driskill; the children of her late daughter, Kimberly Hahn—Lindsey Hahn and Walter Hahn III; and Kimberly’s husband, Walter Hahn Jr., and his daughter, Emily Hahn. She is also survived by three great-grandsons, Mason Williams, John Hahn, and Walker Harvey.She is also remembered by her niece and nephews—Deborah Grishaw, John Moore, Barry Moorefield, and Valerie Moorefield Ricedorf—and their families. In addition, she leaves behind other cherished relatives, including Teri Davidson VanHorn; Mike Davidson and his children, Merrick and Jena; along with many more extended family members who she loved dearly. Born in Covington, Virginia, and raised in Lynchburg, Betty graduated from E.C. Glass High School, Class of 1955. She remained close with many of her classmates and enjoyed attending reunions throughout the years. Betty was the founder of Estate Specialist, which grew to become the largest single-owner antique business on the East Coast. Through her work, she became a cherished member of the Lynchburg community. To her family, Betty was lovingly known as “Bema.” She was the glue that held everyone together, hosting holiday gatherings and delighting loved ones with new games she created each year. She had a special love for feeding animals, dancing, listening to The Beatles, and expressing herself through fashion—especially shoes. After closing her business in 2013, Betty was off to Las Vegas, where she married her high school prom date, Howard Ligon. Together, they traveled widely, cheered on the University of Virginia at sporting events, and enjoyed dining at the best restaurants—never skipping dessert and always ordering a margarita on the rocks in a stemmed glass.The family will be hosting a Celebration of life at Whittens Timberlake Chapel on Saturday, September 6th from 12 - 2 o clock.Those wishing to send flower contributions are encouraged to shop locally, and support the community!
