Betty Marie Shelor

Betty Marie Shelor, age 87, of Blacksburg, died Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at her home. She was born in Montgomery County, VA, on November 20, 1938, to the late John Sherman and Dellar Richardson Richards. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Irene Thompson, Mary Epperly, Frances Smith, and brothers, Roy Richards and James Richards. She was a member of Bible Holiness Church for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Troy L. Shelor; sons and daughter-in-law, Bruce Shelor, Jeff and Joana Shelor; grandchildren, Anna (Dylan) Guiter, and Aaron Shelor; numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives. The family wishes to thank Heritage Hall for their care during Betty’s rehabilitation. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dwayne Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00– 2:00 pm prior to the service.
