Betty Rodgers McNeil

On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, Betty Rodgers McNeil, loving Mother, Grandmother and Sister, passed away surrounded by her loved one’s. Betty was born on September 1, 1950 in Stuart, VA to John and Virginia Branscom Rodgers.

She graduated from Patrick County High School in 1967. She worked for Dupont for 25 years and later worked at Danville City Public Schools, previous to her retirement. Betty Loved the Lord and served her church at Mount Hermon Baptist Church for many years.

She is known for her love of others, her infectious smile and her compassionate spirit with endless generosity. She loved spending time with her family and caring for others.

Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband, Roger Alan McNeil, her Mother and Father, John and Elizabeth Rodgers, and her granddaughter Jessica Cannoy.

Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory, Her son; Anthony Scott Bailey; her special niece Darlene Norman Marshall (Tim); her mother in law; Vivian Hamby McNeil, her brothers; John Bob Rodgers Jr. (Virginia) and James Albert Rodgers (Page); her sister; Joan Rodgers Norman (Larry); her grandson; Anthony Wayne Bailey; her granddaughter; Savanah Faye Bailey; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Mount Hermon Baptist Church, 4385 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA or to Mount Hermon Fire and Rescue, 4268 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA 24540.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 12:00pm at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, 4385 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA 24540 with Pastor Steve Chromy and Pastor Ryan Riley officiating. A visitation will be held on the same day previous to the service from 11:00am-12:00pm also at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. A private interment will be held at a later date at Danville Memorial Gardens.
