Betty Wilcher Kitt

Betty Lucilla Wilcher Kitt, age 80, of The Springs Nursing Center in Hot Springs, Virginia and formerly of 1802 Oakland Drive, Selma, Virginia died Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at The Springs.
Betty was born on July 12, 1943 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Jesse L. Wilcher, Sr. and Daisy Bush Wilcher. She was a former box office manager for the Panama City Florida Civic Center and a former hairdresser, and also worked for Jane Colby Apparel for over 20 years. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Willard Kitt; sisters, Ruby McGuire, Mildred Brown, and Mary Jane Wilcher; brothers, Jesse L. Wilcher, Jr., Kenneth Joseph Wilcher, Harry Justice Wilcher, and Milton Eugene Wilcher; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is survived by her children, Tammy Sue Chase and Anthony Preston “Tony” Kitt, both of Selma; a sister-in-law, Betty Wilcher; eight grandchildren, Joe, George, Debbie (David), Sam, Steven, Jay, Johnny, and Ralo; six great grandchildren, Victoria, Naomi, Oksana, Anya, Eli, and Abigail; a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Barbara Collins; a host of cousins; and three special friends, Clara McCulley, Mary Nicely, and Jim Harlow.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 day at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Edith Snedegar officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Cemetery, Low Moor. The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
