Bettye Jean Morehead

BETTYE JEAN FRENCH MOREHEAD, of Rocky Gap, VA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at her home.

Her work and her family were her life. She was a realtor who owned her own real estate business for many years. She loved to shop and always looked nice. She was strong, independent, sharp and optimistic. She was vibrant, intelligent, and was unselfish. She was a blessing to those who knew her.

Bettye was preceded in death by her parents, William Patton & Ada Glarcia Myers French, her husband, Claude Shrader Morehead, and her sister, Lorene Morehead.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Stan Morehead; her daughter, Jan Morehead; her grandchildren, Bryant Morehead (Stephanie), Alex Pribanich and Caroline Ogle (Kyle); her sister, Alice Hare; and several special nephews and a beloved niece, Sharon Wilburn.

A graveside service is planned for Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Shiloh Cemetery with Rev. Rodney Lawson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Bettye’s honor to the Bland County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 585, Bland, VA 24315.
