Beulah Hazelena Watkins

September 16, 1946 - October 15, 2024

Beulah Hazelena Watkins, 78, of Lowell, North Carolina, formerly of Bassett, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, in Gastonia, North Carolina. She was born on September 16, 1946, in Franklin County, Virginia, to the late Giles Poindexter and Hazelena Poindexter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl E. Watkins, Sr., and her brother, Vernell Poindexter.

Beulah worked at Stanleytown Furniture and was a dedicated member of Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She found joy in doing word searches, using her tablet to connect on Facebook, listening to gospel music, and worshipping on Sundays virtually with her Rock Hill Church Family. Beulah also loved spending time with her family, savoring good food, and cooking. She took great pride in watching her sons and grandchildren participate in sports and other activities throughout life.

Known for her kindness and service to others, Beulah had a heart of gold. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and community member, she was always there to lend a helping hand. She was known to never meet a stranger; she could carry a conversation with anyone she met. She was a straight shooter, always expressing her thoughts and feelings with honesty and love.

Beulah is survived by her two sons, Carl E. Watkins, Jr. (Erica) and Cedric Watkins (Brittney); five grandchildren, Jayda Watkins (Keila), Dylan Watkins, Cullen Watkins, Aiden Watkins, and Lily Gilbert; her nephew, Tony Poindexter, who held a special place in her heart; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Carlton Redd, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
