Bobby Joe Caudle

December 19, 1939 - November 8, 2023

Bobby Joe Caudle went to be with Jesus on November 8, 2023. He fought a brave battle against pancreatic cancer. He was born on December 19, 1939, in Elkin, NC to the late James Marvin Caudle and Mary Roberts Caudle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, his brothers, James Marvin Caudle Jr., and Ed Caudle; and his sister, Stella C. McGee. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa C. Hartgrove (Alan) and his granddaughter, Carrie Hartgrove. He is also survived by two sisters, Ruth C. Johnson, and Louise C. Vaden; and many nieces and nephews.

He married his beloved wife, Joyce Yeatts Caudle, on September 13, 1958. Joe and Joyce loved spending time with family and fishing at Emerald Isle, NC. They also took part in many activities at their church, North Main Baptist, until their health began to fail.

Joe was employed as a fireman with the City of Danville for over 38 years. He proudly served the citizens of Danville. He will be remembered as someone who always strived to help others.

A funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 13, 2023, at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave., Danville, VA 24541 with Mountain Valley Hospice Chaplain, Andrew Purcell officiating. Andrew was a faithful friend and Pastor to Joe during his illness. The interment will be at Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 12, 2023, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., at Norris, West End Chapel.

The family would like to thank the wonderful people who helped Joe during his illness: Susie Powell and Donnell Wilson from the Prince Charles Health Care Agency, the staff and nurses from Bright Leaf Place, and the staff and nurses from Mountain Valley Hospice.
