Bobby Ray Riddle

Bobby Ray Riddle, age 86 of Dry Fork, Virginia passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024 at his residence, while surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was born May 30, 1938 in Danville, Virginia to the late Beulah Payne Riddle and the late Robert Riddle. He was married for 66 years to his wife, Shirley Wells Riddle, who survives at the residence.

He attended Emmanuel College in Georgia and later the John A. Gupton Mortuary College in Nashville, TN. Bobby was a member of Swansonville Pentecostal Holiness Church, a former member the Dry Fork Ruritan Club, and also a former member and past President of the Dry Fork Volunteer Fire Department Board. Bobby started work in the funeral business in 1958. He was a former owner-partner of Wrenn-Yeatts funeral home, and after his retirement he was employed with Norris Funeral Service for 20 years. He was a true southern gentleman, dedicated to his family, and a servant to his community but first and foremost he was dedicated to his Lord.

In addition to his beloved wife Shirley, he is survived by his daughter, Beth Scearce and her husband David; his son, Barry R. Riddle and his wife Tamra; three grandchildren, Erin Riddle and fiancé Jacob Porter, Brantley Riddle and his wife Shelayne, and Matthew Scearce, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Lynwood Riddle and Bill Riddle.

A visitation will be held Sunday, September 29, 2024, 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Swansonville Pentecostal Holiness Church, 16300 Mt. Cross Road, Dry Fork, Virginia. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, September 30, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., also at Swansonville Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by Pastor Mike Hearp, Pastor Steve Dyer, and Dr. Anthony George. A private interment will be officiated by Dr. Michael Stewart. At other times the family will receive friends and family at the residence.
