Bonnie "Granny" Woolridge Akers

Bonnie “Granny” Woolridge Akers, 80, of Martinsville Virginia passed away on Friday November 25,2022 at her home. Mrs. Akers was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Akers; daughter, Gaynell Cannoy; son, JC Akers; and grandson, Adam Akers. Granny was of the Christian faith, and a lady who was selfless, strong willed, and fierce. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a dedicated employee of Tultex and Radial with over 40 years of service between the two. She loved to cook, enjoyed being in the kitchen, and spending time playing in her flowers. She is survived by her son, Billy Akers and wife Betsy; granddaughter, Erica Westmoreland and husband Douglas; grandson, Nicholas Goehle; great-grandchildren, Douglas Westmoreland Jr., Camden Westmoreland, and Brianna Cannoy; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Douglas Stokes Kidd. The Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 6:30 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Jeff Rhea officiating. Visitation will be one half hour prior to the service.
