Bonnie Lou Mitchell
Bonnie Lou Mitchell, 69, of Rocky Mount, VA, was called home August 25, 2024, into the arms of Jesus.
She was born July 21, 1955, to the late Clyde Belmont Mitchell and Helen Tucker Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Clyde Belmont Hairston; and a sister, Shirley Mitchell Lawrence.
Bonnie had a personality that was bigger than life. She loved the Lord and her children and grandchildren more than anything. She could always be counted on for a laugh. Her smile would light up any dark room. Bonnie was a hard worker and enjoyed sewing and making hand-made gifts for family and friends. She also loved gardening, trips to the beach and cooking for her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Keith Daniel Hairston (Sabrina); daughter-in-Law, Stacey Cook Gordon (Mike); grandchildren, Alana Evelyn Hairston, Uriah Forrest Hairston, Aquilla Grace Hairston and Ezekiel Lee Hairston; sisters, Marie Mitchell Knox and Linda Mitchell Johnson; special life-long friends, Richard and Mary Cook; fur-baby, Vader; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
I visit the graves of my family, and it’s tiresome waiting. It makes me want to go home. I asked myself, Where is my home? My homes were never homes. I examined myself, and I realized my home is in Heaven. Families are disappearing. So many are gone and the good old people have passed. I long to go home. That’s the way it’s supposed to be. I will keep putting one foot in front of the other and strive to be what God wants me to be. – Bonnie Lou Mitchell
Bonnie was loved and will be greatly missed but, praise God she is no longer in pain and finally able to hold her son, mother and father in her arms again. She is finally, truly home.
Her family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
Memorials may be made to an animal shelter of your choice, as Bonnie loved and cared deeply for animals.
The family is being served by Wright Funeral Service and Crematory in Martinsville.
