Brenda Faye Craig Alverson

Brenda Faye Craig Alverson, 70, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. She was born on April 14, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Robert Craig and Callie Bennett Craig. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son in law, Larry; one great grandchild, four brothers, Roger, Ricky, David, and Howard; and her five sisters, Ruby, Peggy, Shirley, Deborah, and Linda.

Brenda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister whose gentle spirit and unwavering love touched everyone who knew her. A lifelong resident of Henry County, she was a homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family. Her kindness, strength, and faith were the foundation of her home and the legacy she leaves behind.

She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 54 years, Billy Alverson; two sons, Jason Alverson (Missy) of Bassett and Bobby Alverson (Susan); and one daughter, Shelby A. Agee of Martinsville. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Kayla Hairston, Jay Alverson, Kimmy Shelton, Meghan Agee, Amber Alverson, Brittany Alverson, and Josh Alverson and 11 great grandchildren, all of whom brought tremendous joy to her life. She is also survived by her brother, Mike, and sisters Judy, Patsy, and Cathy.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 12:00pm at Mountain View Baptist Church, with Pastor Jason Alverson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mt. Herman Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
