Brenda Rose Austin

- January 9, 2025

Brenda Rose Austin’s beloved granddaughter, Austin Michelle Cloyd, along with her dearly departed animal children, met her on The Rainbow Bridge and escorted her to meet her Heavenly Father on January 9, 2025. Brenda was born in Charlotte, NC on June 3, 1942. She resided there until moving to Blacksburg Virginia in 2007. Born to Fitzhugh Lee and Lillian Mae Austin, wonderful Christian parents, she joined five loving brothers, F.L. Austin, Jr. (decd), Benton Austin (decd), Thomas Austin (decd), Worth Austin (decd), and Johnny C. Austin. Brenda attended Garinger High School and Central Piedmont Community College. She was the Director of Finance with W.K. Dickson & Co. until her retirement. Previous employment included many friends at Professional Engineering Associates and Beall Associates Engineers. She enjoyed her work and took pride in doing it well. Brenda’s greatest joys in life were her three children, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Their accomplishments and successes brought her much pride and happiness. She leaves on earth to join her someday her son John David Hasty, Jr. (Robin), their children, Joshua (Jennifer) and Courtney (Waylen); her daughter, Renee Cloyd (Bryan), their son Andrew (Alexandra); and her daughter Lisa Sheppard. Also her precious great-grandchildren: Rhyne, Austin, Gabriel, Wolfgang and Marigold. Brenda was a life-long animal lover, seldom without a cat or dog. She enjoyed feeding birds and working in her flower gardens. An avid reader, she had read most of the large-print books at the library. She enjoyed painting in watercolors, a talent she began to develop after retirement. Brenda’s least favorite season was the cold winter. Therefore, the celebration of her life will be this Spring, 2025, details to be determined. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Montgomery County Animal Care & Adoption Center, 480 Cinnabar Rd., Christiansburg, VA 24073. McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg is serving the family.
