Brenda Sue Lawrence Headen

BRENDA SUE LAWRENCE HEADEN, 84, died April 3, (Good Friday) 2026 at Stanleytown Health and Rehab. She was born February 21, 1942, in Mount Airy, North Carolina, born to the late James Walter Lawrence and the late Dorothy (Woodruff) Lawrence.

Brenda graduated from North Surrey High School, Class of 1960. While attending, was a member of the National Honor Society. Following graduation, she married James Edward Headen and lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was attending Cincinnati Bible Seminary. Following his graduation, they ministered at different Churches in Indiana, Virginia, and Maryland. Brenda was actively involved in ladies ministries in those congregations.

Brenda and Jim celebrated 65 years of marriage on June 12, 2025.

She is survived by her loving husband and 2 sons, John Mark Headen (Cindy) of Martinsville Virginia and Paul Todd Headen (Ruth) of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Grandchildren: Dustin (Jessica) of Martinsville Virginia, Gavin (Meaghan) of Martinsville Virginia, and Devon of San Diego, California. Great grandchildren, Elyse, Zuri, Ivy, and Aneira. She is survived by sisters: Bonnie Little (Morris) of Georgia and Joyce Weaver of Texas; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service in celebration of Brenda’s life will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Christ’s Church, 1425 Spruce St Ext., Martinsville, Virginia. Family visitation at 2PM with service at 3PM.
