Bruce Edward Simmons

Bruce Edward Simmons, Sr., 74, of Axton, Virginia, transitioned to his heavenly home, Tuesday, March 4, 2025. He was born October 4, 1950, in Logan, West Virginia to the late Willie Simmons and Ora Lee Cobb Simmons.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Janet Cobb; brothers, Willie Lee Simmons and Jerry Long.

Bruce proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was an educator for over thirty years and retired after teaching at Morehead High School in Eden, North Carolina. He was also the Pastor of Mount Sinai Holiness Church and earned a master’s degree from Pacific Lutheran University. Bruce had a deep love for the Lord and was devoted to his family, church family, and community.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gladious Simmons; sons, Bruce Edward Simmons, Jr., Byron Simmons, Bradley Simmons, Brandon Simmons, and Brentt Simmons; sisters, Rose Hall, Cassandera Smith; and twelve grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The funeral will be held Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Mount Sinai Holiness Church, with Eulogist and best friend, Byron Hannon and Minister Arnold Bullock, officiating. A visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service.
