Callie B. Shelton

Callie B. Shelton, 79, of Martinsville, Virginia, transitioned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Charlotte, North Carolina. She was born on December 27, 1945, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Matthew Redd and Ella Mae Kidd Redd.

Callie was a 1964 graduate of Albert Harris High School and achieved a career as a private certified nursing assistant at multiple places where she was able to show them compassion and care to help heal their bodies and their spirits. Callie deeply loved her family and was able to teach them those same traits as they grew up, giving them a heart of compassion with a helpful spirit in all the things they do now. Her passion for life and love lives on through her children, and the many lives that she was able to touch throughout. Callie will be remembered for the way her life was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Callie found joy laughing with her friends and spending precious time with her grandkids.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Todd Shelton of Roanoke, Virginia; daughter, Tonya Scott of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister, B. Marie Moore of Midlothian, Virginia; grandchildren, Vance “VJ” Taylor, Jr and Haylie Scott of Charlotte, North Carolina, as well as many family, and friends.

The funeral will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Wright’s Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at the Carver Memorial Gardens in Martinsville, Virginia. A visitation will be held before the funeral service at 11:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to Hospice House of Cabarrus County, can also cash app $TeeYvonne. 100 % of the proceeds go to support Tucker Hospice House, where they took tremendous care of Callie.
