Carl Duncan

June 10, 1939 - January 25, 2025

Carl Dean Duncan, age 85, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Salem Terrace at Harrogate in Salem, VA. He was the husband of the late Hilda Faye Davis Duncan.
Mr. Duncan was born on June 10, 1939, in Leasburg, NC, to the late Richard Thomas Duncan and Thelma Lunsford Duncan. He served his country in the United States Navy, then graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in Business Administration. He and his wife raised their family in Chesapeake, Virginia, while Carl worked as an engineer in combat systems at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1993. He was of the Methodist faith.
Carl was an avid hunter and a Master Hunting Safety Instructor. He also enjoyed farming and beekeeping, and he was active in his local Beekeeper's Association. For several years, he served as President of the local chapter of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, organizing their National Hunting and Fishing Day event. Carl had a passion for dancing and performed in competitions with the Western Branch Clogging Team. He loved making music with his wife and children and was even known to yodel on occasion.
Mr. Duncan is survived by three sons: Brennan Duncan and his wife, Cindy; Kenneth Duncan and his wife, Tammy; and Kevin Duncan; a daughter, Kimberly Duncan; a sister, Sue Clayton; four grandchildren: DeAnna Hilton, Dean Hilton, Allyson Duncan, and Lauren Dinnan; two step-grandchildren: Evelyn Amos and Patrick Scruggs; and three great-grandchildren: Kylie Hilton, Charlie Dinnan, and Josie Dinnan. He is also remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Duncan was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Duncan and Jerry Duncan, and a granddaughter, Charlee Faye Duncan.
