Carl Edward Thompson

Carl Edward Thompson, 82, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

Born on February 20, 1943, in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, Carl was the son of the late Carl Thompson and Nora B. Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan T. Thompson and his first wife, Joan N. Thompson.

Carl was retired from BWX Technologies, but his true passions were found outdoors. He loved farming and was a lifelong fisherman. He had a deep connection with horses—he shoed them, traded them, and talked about them often. He was also an avid hunter, especially when the deer had the nerve to cross in front of him.

Carl was a man of simple faith and deep roots, and he was blessed with a church family at Eastbrook Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and support.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Fort Hill Memorial Park, with Pastor Curtis Walkup officiating.
