Carl Lee Wilson

April 17, 1946 - December 20, 2025

Carl “Tom” Lee Wilson, 79, of Lynchburg passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025. He was the son of the late Rosser Dodridge Wilson and Katherine Frances Laughlin Wilson.

Tom, born April 17, 1946, Tom had a deep love for the outdoors and felt most at peace surrounded by nature. Whether he was deer hunting, fishing on the water, or riding horseback through open trails and fields, he truly embraced the natural world. He also took pride in growing his own food and vegetables at home, finding satisfaction in a simple, hardworking way of life.

Tom spent his career driving 18-wheelers, a profession that allowed him to be out on the open road, something he greatly enjoyed and took pride in throughout his life. In his free time, he enjoyed watching and learning about nearly any sport he could. Known for his hopeful spirit, Tom also enjoyed trying his luck with the lottery, always dreaming big even if the winnings didn’t follow.

Above all else, Tom deeply loved and cherished his family. He treasured time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and delighted in taking his beloved wife out for meals at the local Waffle House. Tom was a steady and driving force in the lives of those who knew him, and he will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all.

In addition to his parents Tom was preceded in death by his siblings “Nip” Wilson, Jenny Lovelace Robertson, Francis St. John, Margaret Stinnett and Sue Dowdy.

Those left to cherish Tom’s memory include his loving wife Doris “Boo” Johnson Wilson; his daughter Jennifer and her husband Sammie; his grandchildren Dakota Wilson and his wife Jessie, Justin Wilson and his wife Michelle; and several great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Tom will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Norwood Baptist Church in Forest at 11am officiated by pastor Sam Stump.
