Carlyne Gillie Bondurant

Carlyne Gillie Bondurant, 89, of Franklin County, VA passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 31, 2024. Mrs. Bondurant was born October 9, 1934 in Patrick County, VA to Emma Craig Gilley and Jeff Gilley, Jr. While in Virginia, she met her loving husband, Howard Dillon Bondurant, to whom she was married 62 years. She and Howard moved to Connecticut, where she was employed at Southern NE Telephone Company with a focus in advertising for 33 years, prior to returning to Snow Creek.

Mrs. Bondurant is remembered for her spirited personality, but also for her kindness and generosity. While she never had children, she was close with many family members, including a multitude of nieces and nephews and their extended families. Many fondly remember time spent with Carlyne and Howard when they would treat family to annual visits at Fairystone Park, as well as the annual Christmas brunch they hosted at their house or at Trinity Baptist Church, where she was an active member.

Mrs. Bondurant is preceded in death by Howard, who passed away in 2019, her parents, sisters, Sarah Holliman and Nancy Biggs (Bob), and brothers, Harbour Gilley (Sue) and William (Bill) Gillie. She is survived by her sister, Lois Turner (George) of Ridgeway, brother, Hamon Gilley of Martinsville, brother-in-law, Thomas Holliman of Ridgeway, and her many nieces and nephews, including Cindy McAllister and Debbie Rakes with whom she was very close.

Funeral services will be held and officiated by Pastor Glenn Stinnett at the Norris Funeral Services Martinsville Chapel on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 2 pm. Visitation with the family will occur one hour prior to the service, with subsequent burial at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, VA.
