Carol Maske Van Deventer
Carol Maske Van Deventer, 90, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2023 surrounded by her family. Carol was born on August 24, 1933, in Menominee, Michigan to the late Irene Zettel Maske and the late Robert Herman Maske. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of many years, Mr. Stanley Cyrus Van Deventer.
Carol was of the Lutheran faith, and was a Homemaker. She was a talented artist and was also a member of the Danville Art League. She was also an avid gardener, and was the proprietor of her own porcelain doll business, “The Doll Room” in Port Allegany, PA for a number of years. She enjoyed spending time with all her family.
Carol is survived by two daughters; Cathy Scolpini (Tommy) of Danville, VA and Karen Baker (Kurt) of Tucson, AZ; two sons; Craig Van Deventer (Sheila) of Greensboro, NC and Steve Van Deventer (Stephanie) of Augusta, GA; 13 Grandchildren; Emily S. Ragsdale (Josh), Ashleigh Dixon (David), Mandy Work-Wetzel (Mark), Brandon Work, Jessica Nelson (Evan), Stacey Boswell (Donnie), Bradley Van Deventer, Lance Spivey (April), Morgan Ritchie (Ken), Michael Van Deventer (Heather), Matthew Van Deventer, Melissa Morris (B.A.), and Megan Diehl (Kealan); and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Carol was predeceased by a son; Mark Van Deventer; and two brothers; Richard and David Maske.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the loving and caring staff at Commonwealth Hospice, especially her nurse Melissa. They also want to extend a thank you to her caregivers, Cortney Stamps and Crystal Gayle.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 2:00pm at Ascension Lutheran Church, 314 West Main Street, Danville VA with Pastor Terry Edwards officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service on the same day from 1-2:00pm, also at Ascension Lutheran Church.
