Carol West

After a long illness, Ms. Carol Fridley West, age 65, of Selma, died Sunday, December 3, 2023, at her residence.
Ms. West was born in Covington, VA, one of nine children, to the late Lloyd Eugene Fridley, Sr., and the late Ruth Swain Fridley.
Ms. West attended The Church of New Beginnings in Low Moor whenever her illness allowed, and she enjoyed her time there in fellowship with others. She was a quilt-maker, taught the skills by her mother. She enjoyed quilting with her mother, learning such patterns as Pinwheels, Grandmother’s Garden, Sunbonnet Girl, and others. After the passing of her parents, Carol took special care of her brothers, Lloyd and Robert.
Ms. West is survived by her siblings; brother Lloyd E. Fridley, Jr.; brother Robert L. Fridley; sister Sherry F. Smith and husband, Jimmy; brother Jimmy Fridley and wife, Janie; brother Billy Fridley and wife, Kerri; sister Betty Underwood and husband, Ronnie; sister Patricia Shrewsberry; her nephews, Austin Fridley, Ronnie Underwood Jr, Michael Underwood, Jacob Fridley, Simon Fridley, Jamey Smith, and Corey Smith; and her nieces, Samantha Welch, Elaina Fridley, and Morgan Shrewsberry.
In addition to her parents, Ms. West is preceded in death by her sister, Donna Jones.
In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated and a private family service officiated by Carol’s pastor, Will Bolen, is planned.
