Carolyn Brickey Boley
Carolyn Brickey Boley passed away at Lewis Gale Hospital Friday, May 30th after a courageous battle with Melanoma.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ada and Hubert Brickey, her beloved Husband, Ed Boley, and her Brother Barry Brickey who was killed in the Vietnam War.
She is survived by nieces Kim Boley Whitmore of Knoxville TN and Alicia Stinson of Newport, TN; her beloved dachshund Patches; and countless friends.
Carolyn was born in Roanoke Virginia September 6, 1942, Graduated from Jefferson High School, Completed undergraduate studies at Radford College and received her Masters from U.V.A. She spent most of career as a music teacher in the Roanoke City Schools. She enjoyed sharing her love of music’s diversity with her students and maintained a strong belief that an education including music helped students in mathematics, as well as boosted their self confidence and improved meaningful social interaction.
A Visitation will be held at Simpson Funeral Home Friday, June 6th, from 6 to 8 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10AM Saturday, June 7th at Simpson Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.
