Carolyn Sue Hawks McMillian

Mrs. Carolyn Sue Hawks McMillian, age 72 of Cana, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born on June 13, 1953 , in Surry County to the late Lawrence and Myrtle Hawks. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. McMillian was a faithful member of White Plains Baptist Church. Surviving are her two daughters and a son-in-law, Robin McMillian Flynn (Anthony), Rebecca McMillian; four grandchildren, Bryson Joel Flynn, Alyssa Faye Hawks (Jonathan), Chasati Jones (Bryan), Jade Vrable (Patrick); five great-grandchildren, Coby, Kyleigh, Adalee, Ollie, and Leo; sisters, Angie Combs (Sammy), Jenny Holcomb (Andy); brothers, Ronald Hawks, Barry Hawks (Cindy); special friend, Belinda “Duck” McMillian; special aunt, Anne Surratt. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McMillian was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin Perry McMillian; two infant twin girls, Sarah and Jeanette McMillian; sisters, Peggy Hawks, Gloria-Jean Payne, Arlene Key; brothers, Danny, Donald, and Larry Hawks; special aunt, Essie Mayes. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 2:00 PM at White Plains Baptist Church with service conducted by Rev. David Tucker and Rev. Thomas Delp. Burial will follow in the Edwards Family Cemetery in Cana, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time for the service at the church.
