Carolyn Sue Parnell

Carolyn Sue Parnell, 68, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at her residence. She was born January 29, 1956, in Stuart, Virginia, to the late Sanford T. Tilley and Frances Louise Bullins Tilley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Tilley.

Carolyn served as the Cafeteria Manager at Sanville Elementary for many years and was a dedicated member of Solid Rock Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and caring for her family. Carolyn treasured moments with her loved ones and friends. She also enjoyed watching hummingbirds and tending to her flowers.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Robert Parnell; three children, Robert Lee Parnell, Jr. (Wendy), Sharon Cole (John), and Amanda Parnell; five grandchildren raised as her children, Robert Lee Parnell III (Megan), David Bradley Parnell (Loren), Samantha Nicole Thacker (Nick), April Michelle Robinette (Josh), and Cameron Blake Parnell; nine grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Kim Dalton (Tim) and Lisa McCormick (Ted); four brothers Steve Tilley (Linda), Ricky Tilley (Lisa), Tim Tilley (Eve), Mark Tilley (Tracy).

The visitation will be held Monday, December 16, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. The funeral will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Steve Tilley officiating.
