Carrie Mae Sutphin

Mrs. Carrie Mae Sutphin, age 91, passed away on Sunday, May 28th, 2023 at Northern Regional Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Sutphin was born April 26, 1932, in Surry County, to the late Hubert and Pency Hawks. Carrie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who will be dearly missed. She is survived by her son; Timmy Sutphin, daughter-in-law; Cupid Sutphin, grandchildren; Johnny Sutphin Jr., Nicole Sutphin, and Janell Drakeford (Steven), and eight wonderful great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sutphin was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Sutphin, son; Johnny Sutphin, sister; Elvie Holder, and brothers; Curtis Hawks, Cossie Hawks. The funeral services will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 11:00 am at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. The family will receive friends Thursday from 9:00 until 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Turner-Duncan family Cemetery, Laurel Fork, Virginia. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to charity of choice.
