Cathy Hughes

Cathy Hughes, age 71, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, September 11, 2025. She was born in Montgomery County, VA, on January 1, 1954, to the late Maury Richard, Jr. and Thelma Thompson Long. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Tracy Hughes; brothers, Vernon Long, Danny Long; and sisters, Laurie Dove, and Jeanette Hatcher. She is survived by her husband, John Hughes; daughters, Amanda Hughes, Tabatha Hughes; son, Michael Hughes; grandchildren, Michael Hughes, Brittany Hughes, Aaliyah, Lamar, and Major; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Kami; sisters; Renee Keister, Diane Graham, Gail Long; brothers and sister-in-law, Ronnie Long, Darrel Long, and Jerry (Pat) Long. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
