Cecil Randolph Smith

Cecil Randolph Smith, 81, of Collinsville, Virginia, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024. He was born January 14, 1943, in Blacksburg, Virginia, to the late Lonnie “Coot” Drayton Smith and Mamie Sue Sarver Smith.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Griffin, Pearl Nightingale, Frances Jarels, Georgia Warren, and Maxine Smith; brothers, Edward Smith and James “JD” Smith.Cecil was an active member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a brick and block mason, fabricator, and welder; all by trade. He enjoyed servicing lawnmowers, small engines, building race car motors, and tinkering in his “Pop’s Shop” out in the back yard. In his free time, you could find Cecil in the garden or on the lake fishing. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and UFC fights with his family. He was known for lending a helping hand to his family, friends and neighbors. In his earlier years he enjoyed dirt track racing in the Sportsman and Modified Series.He is survived by daughter, Sandra K. Smith Major (Brent); Sons, Cecil R. Smith, Jr. (Maria) and Carlton R. Smith (Melissa); grandchildren, Dustin Smith, Drew Smith (McKinley), Jake Major, Ashley Major, Cody Smith (Elizabeth), Chase Smith, and Hunter Smith; and one great grandchild, Camden Smith.There will be a visitation Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
