On July 30, 2023 Charles "Charlie" Lyndon Kennedy, P.H.D., retired Airforce Tech Sergeant, beloved spouse of Dr. Jeffrey J. Pilling of Baltimore, MD; devoted father of Adam C. Kennedy of Fresno, Texas; loving son of the late Helen Gray Mills and Frederick Charles Kennedy, Jr.; cherished stepson of John W. Mills; brother of Karen K. Bivens (P.K.) of Roanoke, VA, Linda K. Seibel (Wes) of Fincastle, VA, Lisa M. Ryan (Tony) of Bedford, VA. and Tim Kennedy (Kathy) of Roanoke, VA; dear uncle of Jennifer Lockard, Lindsey Watson, Kaitlyn Kennedy, Ryan Kennedy and Mark Brooks; great uncle of Alexis Jones, Margot Kennedy, Riker Watson and Blake Lockard; great nephew of Frances C. Mills; cousin of Barbara M. Lee and Kenneth Lee.

Visitation will be held at the Lotz Funeral Home Salem Chapel, 1330 E. Main Street, Salem, Virginia on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem at 12:00 pm. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial ontributions may be made to the S.P.C.A.
