Charles Curtin

Mr. Charles Francis (Butch) Curtin, age 87, of Covington, died Thursday, July 17, 2025 at his residence. He was the husband of Norma O'Conner Curtin.
Mr. Curtin was born May 17, 1938 in Washington, DC, the son of the late Raymond Curtin and Janie Pullen Curtin. He was a graduate of Eagle Rock High School, Class of 1956. Mr. Curtin served his country as a member of the Virginia National Guard. A resident of this community since 1959, Butch was employed as a foreman in the wood yard section of Westvaco, retiring with forty-eight years of service. Butch was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church. He was known as an accomplished car racer in Eagle Rock and Alleghany County.
In addition to his wife, Norma, Mr. Curtin is survived by a daughter, Janie Curtin Tyree and husband, Dwain; two grandchildren, Tara Saylor Uzzell and husband, Tyson of Covington, Charity Tyree Hale and husband, Nathan of Covington; five great grandchildren, Callie Uzzell, Kinley Uzzell, Mason Hale, Maddox Hale and Mallory Hale; a sister-in-law, Martha O'Conner Wilhelm of Daleville; eight nieces and nephews; and numerous special friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:30 P.M. Sunday, July 20, 2025, at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jim Moss officiating.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2:30 P.M. until time of service at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church.
