Charles Davenport

Charles Leon Davenport, age 79, formerly of Eagle Rock, Virginia died Friday, November 8, 2024 at Salem Health and Rehab Center, Salem.

He was born September 16, 1945 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Ralph Edward Davenport, Sr. and Mary Eliza Abram Davenport. He retired from the dietary department at Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor. He was a member of Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church and an avid San Francisco 49ers fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Luther, and Leonard Davenport; two sisters, Ruby Davenport and Gracie Pullen.

He is survived by a son, Dajor Davenport of Clifton Forge; a sister, Fannie Pierce of Eagle Rock; three brothers, Earnest Davenport and wife, Karen of Eagle Rock, Floyd Davenport of Covington, and Ralph Davenport, Jr. of Eagle Rock; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 11:00AM in Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church, Eagle Rock with Reverend David Halsey officiating. Following the service his body will be cremated. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.
