Charles Dodd

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, Charles Lowell “Charlie” Dodd, age 90, of 38 Botany Drive, Eagle Rock, Virginia on Friday, July 19, 2024. He was surrounded by family at his home.
Charlie was born on April 28, 1934 in Iron Gate, Virginia to the late William Eldridge and Minnie Cary Dodd. He served in the United States Army National Guard for twelve years. He always enjoyed working with cars and was the manager of Nicely Car Care. He also was a member of Iron Gate Methodist Church and enjoyed reading his Bible in his spare time.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Shirley Marie Matheney Dodd; a daughter, Debra Dodd Kern; a stillborn sister; and a step brother, Ronnie Broughman.
He is survived by his daughter, Wanda Hubble of Eagle Rock; his son, Charles “Billy” Dodd of Clifton Forge; a granddaughter, Heather Nicole Kern; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special lifelong friend, W. Pembroke “Pem” Hall.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Bill Gilliland and Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
