Charles Letchford

Charles Russell Letchford, 79, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025. He was born on September 25, 1945, the son of the late Sam H. Letchford and Cora N. Letchford. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved mother-in-law, Dora Vess Campbell, and numerous brothers and sisters. 

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Gloria Ann Letchford; his sister, Barbara Letchford Johnson; his special brother and sister-in-law Sidney Vess (Sue Vess), brother-in-law Lacy Vess and special nieces, Cheryl Vess Thomas and Marcie Vess Harless. Special nephew Russell Johnson, nieces Marry Ann Drews, Tracy Abersol, Pam Vess, Bonnie Letchford Clark, Crystal. He also leaves behind many other nieces and nephews. 

Charles had a deep love for racing. It brought him many friendships and eventually led to him owning his own race car, which he was very proud of. Special racing friends, Tina & Mike Nowlin. He also enjoyed camping in his camper with Gloria and partner in crime, his mother-in-law Dora. He also loved fishing whenever he had the chance with his fishing buddy Frank and spending time piddling in the garage, where he always found something to work on. 

The family would also like to give special thanks to Linda with Good Samaritan Hospice. 

At the family request a private burial will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
