Charles Maurice Roach

Charles Maurice Roach, 82, formerly of Martinsville, Va. passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026. He was born in Martinsville, Va., August 29, 1943, to the late Clay Maurice Roach and Louise Geneva Frazier Roach

He is survived by his sons, Gary Roach (Julie) and David Roach; sister, Joyce Young (Monroe); grandchildren, Sam Roach, Lana Dayle Roach, Kodi Roach, Kelly Roach and Christina Frick; niece, Julie Shumate (Blake), great niece, Lucy Shumate.

Charles grew up attending Trinity Friends Church in Martinsville. He retired from Virginia Mirror where he worked as a salesman. He served in the National Guard. He was very athletic and played baseball throughout his youth on little league and pony league teams. He continued playing baseball in high school and was offered a baseball scholarship at Virginia Tech. He rode motorcycles as a youth, but later in life he enjoyed long-distance cycling. He also enjoyed driving sports cars.

He was known for having a great sense of humor and he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at 12:00 pm to 12:50 pm on Friday, February 20, 2026, at McKee-Stone Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm and will be officiated by Pastor Ron Hill. Interment will follow the service and will be at Roselawn Burial Park.
