Charles Milton Hughes

Charles Milton Hughes, 78 of Narrows, VA departed this life May 29, 2023 surrounded by his lovingfamily in the care of Carilion Giles Community Hospital. Born in Giles County on March 7, 1945 he was a son of the late Charles Ross Hughes and Lorraine Hopson Hughes.

Charles and his wife, Linda Spicer Hughes, began building their family over 58 years ago while Charlesworked in acetone recovery for Celanese. As a lifelong Green Wave, Charles enjoyed playing football forNarrows High School and was proud of the accomplishments his Green Wave team made in the statetournaments. In his spare time, he enjoyed farming, hunting, and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, George Hughes and Randy Hughes,and brother-in-law David Fleeman.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Spicer Hughes; sons, Bryan (Kimber) Hughes and Chris(Charity) Hughes; grandchildren, Jordan Hughes , Lauryn (Ryan) Jones, Leah Hughes; a great-grandchild,Rylee Jones; sister, Rita Fleeman; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hughes; a special daughter-in-law, ShelleyAtkins Hughes and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 2, 2023 from 1 PM until 2 PM at Kendall Funeral Homefollowed by the funeral service, which will be conducted 2 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel withPastor Franklin Atkins of Kellysville Church of God officiating.
