Charles R. Witt

August 15, 1943 - June 26, 2025

Charles Rule Witt, 81, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Thursday, June 26, 2025 in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. He was born on August 15, 1943 in Oak Hill, West Virginia to the late Harold & Golden Mary Rule Witt.

Along with his parents, Charlie is reunited in passing with his sisters, Mary Ann Spangler and her husband, Rusty Spangler and Patsy Lee Tredway and her husband, Gary Treadway; his brother, Harold Witt, II; and father-in-law, Bill Craft.

Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie Witt of Surfside Beach; son, Jeff Witt of Vinton, VA; daughter, Misty Keeney and husband, Josh of Johns Island, SC; grandchildren, Austin, Logan, Morgan, Madalyn, Nathan & Daisy; sister in-law, Teresa Frye and husband, Steve of Roanoke, VA; brother-in-law, Kenny Craft and wife Faith of Roanoke, VA; sister in-law, Joan Witt; special mother in-law, Shirley Mills of Roanoke, VA; beloved k9 companion, Roy; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

Charlie proudly served in the United States Navy. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed time spent fishing, golfing, hunting and walking on the beach searching for shark’s teeth. He had a great passion for working jigsaw puzzles and playing cards with his family and friends, but his true passion in life was his grandchildren and cheering them on! He will be deeply missed.

The family wishes to acknowledge, with heartfelt appreciation the kindness, care and compassion shown to them. To his caregiver, Colene Gomez, you are an angel on earth! A graveside service to honor his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors. The family will speak to guests following the service at the cemetery.
