Charles Russell Dameron
Charles Russell Dameron, 88, departed this life on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at his home in Martinsville, VA. Charles was born on February 15, 1937, in Danville, VA, to the late Russell and Eva Dameron.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Lang Dameron, and his son Douglas Andrew Dameron.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Kenneth Russell Dameron; his daughter, Julie Dameron Fogle and husband, John; three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Avery, and Alistair; one sister, Sylvia Vaden; and one brother, John Preston Dameron.
He lived a life filled with dedication, creativity, and laughter. Charles had a successful career with Prudential Insurance Company. After 28 years, he retired and built his own successful and respected independent insurance business. Beyond his professional life, Charles was a man of diverse passions. A proud father and doting grandfather, his family was the center of his world. He expressed his creativity through various artistic pursuits, most notably in his intricate wood carvings, which showcased his patience and skill. His love for music was evident to all who knew him; he lent his voice to his church choir and was a proud member of the Smith River Singers, filling the air with melody and joy. His most memorable trait, however, was his wonderful sense of humor. Charles loved to tell jokes and make people laugh, his eyes twinkling as he delivered a punchline. He brought light and levity to every gathering, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Charles Russell Dameron leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life well-lived.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 5th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Chapel, 109 Broad Street, Martinsville, VA. The funeral service will be held at Starling Avenue Baptist Church, 932 Starling Avenue, Martinsville at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 6th, with Rev. Angela Zimmerman officiating. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
