Charles Vernon Knapp

Charles V. Knapp age 91 of Salem passed away peacefully on Friday December 16,  2022 at Alleghany Health and Rehab in Clifton Forge, VA. He is now Joined with his wife of many years Elaine Bryant Knapp and many other family members who went on before him.
Left to carry on his memory is daughter, Tanya Wilson; Stepson, Robert Wilson  who took care of him for years; two granddaughters and their husbands, Brittany Wilson (Charles Trent) and Mary Wilson Higgins (JR Higgins); five great-grandchildren, Bray, Skylar, Leland, Maliyah, and Eli; two sisters, Mary Anne and Mable. He is also survived by many other family members and friends that he made along the way.
He retired from the US ARMY as a cook SGT and The SALEM FIRE DEPT. He also worked for the city of Salem. He enjoyed Holidays, family get togethers, and traveled many places. He told many stories of his past and was known for saying "coming up on it" He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 21, 2022 with Pastor Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in the Durham Family Cemetery with Military Honors. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 PM.
