Charlie Lee McGill

Charlie Lee McGill, 64, of Fieldale, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Sovah Health-Martinsville. He was born in Lester, West Virginia, on July 25, 1959, to the late George W. McGill and Clara McGill Ervin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger McGill and George McGill, Jr; and one grandchild, Sinclara Mitchell.

Charlie enjoyed watching the Red Skins, working on cars, spending time with family and friends, especially his grandbabies, and playing cards (Tonk). He will be remembered mostly by his family for being a hard worker and making sure his family was provided for, especially his lovely wife, Resa.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Teresa “Resa” McGill of the home; five children: Charlie “Little Charlie” Hairston, Charlene Hairston, Danielle Venable (Mantilo), Anton McGill, and Gabrielle McGill; eight grandchildren: Rickyah Mitchell-Hairston, Trinity Hairston, Kedrianna Clemmons, Layla McGill, Tierra Venable, Montez Venable, London Venable, and Aminah Martin; two great-grandchildren, Zaiden Venable, and Travis Rosser; six sisters: Ann Chism (Walter), Mary Jane McGill, Goldie Brim (Steve), Dorothy McGill (Billy), Maude McGill, and Barbara Hall (Dale); two brothers, Larry McGill and Jerry McGill; a special nephew, Michael Owens; special niece, Goldie Renea Finney Rhem, and host of other nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Funeral services will be on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 12 Noon at Bassett Funeral Service, and the family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service. The burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. A floating visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. The family will receive friends other times at 274 Clyde Prillaman Street, Fieldale, Virginia 24089.
