Chauncey Yvon Adams

Chauncey Mitchell Adams, 78, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024. She was born July 18, 1945, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, to the late Willie C. Mitchell and Charity Louise Hamlin.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Mebane; sister, Patricia A. Walton; and brother, Willie Curtis Mitchell, Jr.Chauncey was a member of First Baptist Church East Martinsville under Pastor Whitfield and was a dedicated teacher at Wilton Manors Elementary School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for twenty-eight years. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, family and friends. She loved playing cards, cooking, listening to music, and loved to dance.She is survived by daughters, Constance “Pebbles” Mebane and Michelle C. Perkins; son, Frederick D. Mebane; sister, Artis M. Law; as well as eight grandchildren.The funeral service will be Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens.
