Cheryl Bottom
Cheryl Ann Bottom, of Covington VA, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 24th, 2024
Born October 1st, 1948, in Topeka Kansas, she went to join her parents, Mildred and Roscoe Bottom and her beloved son, Joaquin J Roscoe Pina in Heaven. Cheryl is survived by her daughters, Mitzie Tryee of Topeka KS, Jaime Hale and husband, Stuart Hale of Covington, VA; her sister, Christine Kramer and husband, Christian Kramer of Topeka, KS and her younger sister and best friend, Kimberley Wilcox and her life partner, Linda Burba of Norfolk, VA; her grandsons, Nicholas and Nathan Griffin of Covington, VA and Sean Tyree of Topeka, KS; and a niece who was like a daughter, Kelley J Bottom of Covington, VA.
Born in Topeka Kansas, Cheryl lived a very active life with many adventures along the way, mostly joined by her younger sister Kim. Drive in movies, malt shops and burger joints were the weekend fun, they stayed Best Friends until the very end. She graduated from Topeka High and would go on to be a wandering soul who craved new experiences and adventures. Eventually Cheryl would go on to be a Rep Payee for Community Action in Topeka before enjoying her retirement in Covington, VA.
Cheryl had a gift of making the best of any situation, she was as her niece, Kelley, says an avid upcycler. She had a way to make anything look beautiful. She prided herself on cleanliness and organization. Cheryl was very close to all three of her grandsons. They shared everything and she was instrumental in their upbringing and teaching them how to be respectful young men. Her grandsons lovingly called her Grand Muski the OG. They loved her fiercely and she loved them back the same, it was truly an amazing thing to witness those bonds. She will be truly missed by our small tight family; her presence has left a void that will only be filled by all the amazing memories we have and her dog, Rocco, that now our family will share custody of.
True to Cheryl's superstitious nature, she always believed New Years Day brought fresh beginnings and good fortune. To honor her incredible spirit the family will hold a private Celebration of Life on New Year's Eve 2024.
