Christopher Allen Canty

Christopher Allen Canty, 65, of Bassett, Virginia, transitioned from this earthly home Monday, May 12, 2025. He was born April 28, 1960, in Bassett, Virginia, to Sallie Moore Canty Croslin and the late Albert Canty.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Melissa Canty and Jeri Gough; and brothers, Albert Steve Canty and Tony Hilderbrand.

Christopher was of the Baptist faith and a man who took great pride in his work. He was employed by M & W Windows for more than twenty-two years and also worked at Kroger for over five years, demonstrating remarkable dedication and a strong work ethic. Christopher found joy in life’s simple pleasures - dancing, listening to music, singing, and attending car shows. One of his favorite television shows to watch was “Swamp People”. Above all, Christopher deeply loved his family and treasure the time spent with them, creating lasting memories filled with warmth and affection.

He is survived by his loving spouse, Donna Finney; mother, Sallie Moore Canty Croslin; daughters, Ashley Hagwood (Da’Tavia Hagwood) and Crystal Canty; sons, Christopher Smith and DeReion Canty; sisters, Sarah Canty, Rhona Crutchfield, Vickie McKinnon (Aron), and Christy Canty; brothers, Timothy Hilderbrand and Jerel Canty; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Monday, May 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1116 Mary Hunter Drive, Bassett, VA 24055 with Reverend Warren Watts officiating.
